Please Note: Color results vary by fabric type, amount of dye used, water temperature and time in dye bath. Not recommended for synthetic fibers (fabrics containing more than 35% polyester, acrylic or acetate). Instead, use Rit DyeMore Synthetic Fiber Dye. Not recommended for fabrics with a rubber backing or labeled cold water wash or dry clean only. May not be effective on bleach damaged fabrics if in doubt, test dye a swatch first. Package color reflects approximate results when dyeing white or off-white 100% cotton. Preparation: Shake well before using. Wear rubber gloves. Add hot water to a plastic bucket, stainless steel sink or stainless steel pot. Ideally, water temperature should be 140 degrees F or greater. Add 1 teaspoon of liquid dish detergent. For best results, add 1 cup of salt to dye bath for cotton, rayon, or linen. Add 1 cup of salt to dye bath for cotton, rayon, or linen. Add 1 cup of vinegar to dye bath for nylon, silk or wool. Add dye. Mix well. Submerge unfolded wet fabric into dye bath. Stir consistently for 30 minutes or until desired color is achieved (up to 60 min.). Fabric will look darker when wet and prior to washing. Rinse with cool water until rinse water begins to run clear. Wash in warm water with mild detergent by hand or in your washing machine with an old towel. Use Rit ColorStay Dye Fixative immediately after dyeing cotton, linen, rayon or raime to maximize color retention. Tips: Dyeing in a washing machine is the most convenient method for dyeing large items. Can be used on top-loader, front-loader or HE machines.
