This wine is made from grapes sourced from two major Zinfandel regions in California. Contra Costa County, home to old vines on own roots and dry farmed. This area ripens first producing wines of great intensity, darker fruit with interesting spice notes. We also source a little fruit from the Lodi district - primarily the old Mokelumne River region near the town center. Soils are generally sandy loam and the region experiences warm days and nights cooled by Sacramento Delta breezes. It has long been revered for it's high quality Zinfandel. We have worked with these growers for decades to cultivate the best old vines in both districts. Low yields and long hangtime culminate in vibrant fruit and perfect ripeness. 2023 was a very cold year allowing us to hang the fruit and provide better concentration and flavor along with depth showing through the wine.
